PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Law Enforcement–Protective Service Training Program (LE-PSTP) is designed specifically for law enforcement and built around the functioning of a comprehensive Protective Service system.

​

​Protective Service extends beyond individual techniques. Effective operations integrate protective intelligence, advance planning, coordination, protective movements, transportation, communication, contingency response, and operational decision-making into a unified mission.

​

​LE-PSTP develops law-enforcement personnel to understand their responsibilities within that system and to operate effectively as part of a coordinated protective mission.

​

​The program combines structured instruction with progressive practical application, culminating in a comprehensive field training exercise in which participants apply planning, communication, judgment, and protective principles under realistic conditions.

 

​The program is grounded in established federal protective-service best practices.

​​ELIGIBILITY

​LAW ENFORCEMENT ONLY

​​​​

Participation in LE-PSTP is limited to qualified active and retired law-enforcement professionals.

​

This controlled eligibility preserves a professional training environment centered on law-enforcement responsibilities, operational realities, shared experience, and established standards.

​

The program is particularly relevant to:

• Officers assigned to protective service, intelligence, or tactical responsibilities

• Personnel involved in threat assessment, advance planning, or protective operations

• Supervisors responsible for Protective Service operations

• Agencies seeking to develop or enhance organizational Protective Service capability

• Law enforcement professionals preparing to transition into private-sector Protective Service or Executive Protection (EP) roles and seeking relevant training, credentials, knowledge, and practical skills for protection-agent responsibilities  

 

Proof of law enforcement service or appropriate agency documentation is required for enrollment.

• Exercise sound professional judgment within realistic Protective Service environments.

 

COURSE MODULES

​LE-PSTP progresses from foundational Protective Service principles to integrated planning, operations, and practical application.

 

Protective Service Foundations — Roles, responsibilities, principles, and the operational framework that supports Protective Service missions.

 

Threat Assessment & Protective Intelligence — Threat identification, risk considerations, information collection and analysis, and support to protective decision-making.

 

Advance Planning & Coordination — Advance responsibilities, operational planning, site considerations, interagency coordination, and contingency planning.

 

Protective Movements & Site Operations — Protective formations, positioning, arrivals and departures, venue considerations, and coordinated movement.

 

Protective Transportation & Route Planning — Motorcade operations, route planning, transportation coordination, and movement contingencies.

 

Emergency Response & Protective Medical Considerations — Emergency response principles, protective priorities, emergency actions, and medical considerations relevant to the protective mission.

 

Integrated Protective Service Operations — Communication, coordination, decision-making, adaptability, and team responsibilities throughout the protective operation.

 

Field Training Exercise (FTX) — A culminating practical exercise that integrates planning, coordination, movement, transportation, communication, and operational decision-making within a realistic Protective Service environment.

​DELIVERY OPTIONS

​

LE-PSTP is available through scheduled WSG programs and agency-hosted delivery sessions.

​

Scheduled Programs — Law-enforcement professionals may attend      LE-PSTP at designated training locations.

​

Agency-Hosted Programs — Law enforcement agencies, academies, and regional training partners may host LE-PSTP for qualified personnel at an approved training site.

​

Agency-hosted delivery enables organizations to expand access, support multi-agency participation where appropriate, and integrate the program into their training objectives while maintaining established curriculum, instructor, and completion standards.

Participants who successfully complete LE-PSTP receive a serialized WSG Certificate of Completion documenting the 40-hour Law Enforcement–Protective Service Training Program.

​

LE-PSTP provides 40 ASIS CPE credits through WSG’s participation as an ASIS Preferred CPE Provider.

​

Any external training recognition or continuing-education credit from an agency, academy, POST, or other authority remains subject to that authority’s requirements and approval.​
