Program Overview

The Law Enforcement–Protective Service Training Program (LE-PSTP) is a 40-hour, in-person course designed to equip current and former law enforcement officers with mission-ready protective service skills.
​
Grounded in federal best practices and delivered through a crawl-walk-run methodology, the course combines classroom instruction with hands-on, scenario-based training, culminating in a realistic Field Training Exercise (FTX).
​
Graduates earn 40 ASIS-approved CPE credits and a WSG Professional Certificate—providing dual recognition that validates skills, supports recertification, and strengthens career credibility across the law enforcement and security industry.

Course Modules
LE-PSTP’s nine modules build proficiency in protective operations:

Introduction to Protective Operations: Identify purpose and standards for a protective detail.

Protective Detail Formations and Responsibilities: Master positions, formations, and walking tactics.

Arrivals and Departures: Execute motorcade arrival/departure duties and comms.

Motorcade Operations: Learn types, configurations, and tactical maneuvers.

Advances: Plan site advances and routes with precision.
-
Surveillance Detection: Detect terrorist phases and surveillance indicators.
-
Tactical Medical (TACMED): Apply tourniquets and basic TACMED in ops.

Attack Responses: Analyze terrorist tactics and respond to attacks on formations/motorcades.

Final Training Exercise: Demonstrate proficiency in a capstone FTX under pressure.
Outcomes
Upon completing the LE-PSTP, graduates can immediately apply their advanced knowledge and skills to real-world protective operations. This training builds the confidence to plan, lead, and execute security missions safely and successfully, enhancing on-the-job performance with federal best practices.

In-person, led by law enforcement-experienced instructors from agencies like Secret Service, DHS, and Department of State, Diplomatic Security Service.
Program Details

CPE Credits: Earn 40 ASIS-approved CPE credits, aligned with CPP, PSP, PCI, and APP certification domains, boosting tactical and protective service expertise and recognized on the WSG Professional Certificate.

Prerequisites: Open to current or former law enforcement officers (active duty or retired); proof of service required.

Location: WSG Training Facility or on-site at host department locations, tailored to agency needs.

Customization: Training adapts to the host agency’s Area of Responsibility (AOR), using their vehicles and venues, coordinated by the Local Training Coordinator (LTC) and WSG.
